The product consists of two units, a TRANSMITTER unit and a RECEIVER unit. The TRANSMITTER which is normally placed in the bedroom, receives infrared (IR) pulses from remote controls. It converts these to radio frequency (RF) signals which are transmitted to the RECEIVER. The RECEIVER re-converts the RF signal back into IR pulses and emits these to the TV equipment to be controlled, normally set up in the main viewing TV room.

Thus, a user can watch satellite TV (for example) in his or her bedroom, but still can operate the satellite receiver in the main TV room.
